1) We believe that the Bible is the authoritative standard for life. All scripture
is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training
in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
2) We believe the key tenets of faith as outlined in the Apostle’s Creed. We believe
in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son our
Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended to heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge
the quick and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion
of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
3) We believe that the proper relationship with our Lord and with one another is described
by the words of the Great Commandment. Jesus was asked, "Teacher, which is the great
commandment in the law?" and he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.
And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all
the law and the prophets." (Matthew 22:36-40)
4) We believe that our great mission and task as the church is to live out Christ’s Great
Commission. And Jesus came and said to them All authority is heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, to
the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20)
5) We believe that the power of the church comes from serious devotion to prayer, as described by the
Lord’s Prayer. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we also have forgiven our
trespassers. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. [For yours is the kingdom, and the
power, and the glory forever. Amen] (Matthew 6:9-13)
6) We believe that as disciples of Christ we must constantly seek to discern and do God’s will, not our own.
Our own works of faith must follow God’s will in order to be supported by the Spirit of the Living Christ.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. (Psalm.143:10)
